Building a Better Bakersfield
The 2024 State of the City luncheon presented by Adventist Health and Kaiser Permanente, was held on Wednesday, July 17 at the Bakersfield Marriott at the Convention Center in downtown Bakersfield. Mayor Karen Goh and City Manager Christian Clegg addressed local leaders to highlight completed projects and discuss the city’s efforts to tackle key issues. The event serves as one of the Chamber’s premier business forums, providing a platform to discuss the progress made on Bakersfield’s most pressing matters.

City leaders stressed the importance of collective action in addressing Bakersfield’s challenges, emphasized the community’s resilience and shared insights on how residents can work towards solutions.
City Manager Christian Clegg emphasized that the city’s population growth reached 411,109 as of January 2024, reflecting a 0.8% increase from the previous year.
