Deanna Blaise inducted as 2025 Chairman of the Board at Annual Board Installation & Awards Luncheon

The Greater Bakersfield Chamber hosted its Annual Board Installation & Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, Jan. 22, welcoming new leadership and celebrating outstanding contributions to the business community. The event highlighted the induction of Valley Strong Credit Union’s Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer, Deanna Blaise, as the 2025 Chairman of the Board of Directors. Blaise’s leadership marks the continuation of the Chamber’s commitment to fostering collaboration and advocacy within Bakersfield’s vibrant business community.
Chamber President and CEO Janelle Capra delivered an inspiring address, reflecting on the organization’s rich history and outlining a strategic vision for its future.
“It is an honor to celebrate our collective achievements as we stand on the shoulders of those who have come before us,” said Capra. “The Greater Bakersfield Chamber is celebrating 105 years of serving our community, and we are excited for the year ahead under the leadership of Board Chair Deanna Blaise.”

Outgoing Chairman Rob Duchow, public affairs manager at Southern California Gas Company, was honored with a state resolution from Senator Shannon Grove’s office in recognition of his service in 2024. Duchow ceremoniously handed over the gavel to Blaise during the guard change.
The event also recognized exemplary contributors to the local business community with the following awards:
- Volunteer of the Year: Trinh Moore, President and Co-owner, TM Signs and Graphics
- Chamber Champion: Dr. Justin Hiebert, Owner, New Frontier Consulting



Outgoing board members Bruce Davis of Bolthouse Properties, LLC, and G. Riar of Riar Inc. and The UPS Store were celebrated for their service and dedication to the Chamber’s mission.
Blaise expressed her enthusiasm for the role and commitment to building on the Chamber’s legacy.
“Together, we can create a thriving ecosystem where businesses of all sizes succeed, contribute to the local economy, and elevate the quality of life for everyone in our community,” she said. “This is your Chamber, and your voice matters!”
Blaise emphasized her focus on fostering stronger connections, advocating for business-friendly policies, and promoting initiatives that position Bakersfield as a hub of growth and prosperity. She encouraged the business community to actively participate in the Chamber’s events, committees and initiatives.

Capra echoed this sentiment, underscoring the importance of supporting small businesses and fostering collaboration.
“The Chamber is fueled by our vision for growth, innovation and collaboration. Together, we will confront crucial issues, ensuring our community is prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,” she said.

Approximately 300 people attended the luncheon held at the Seven Oaks Country Club in southwest Bakersfield., celebrating the past year’s accomplishments and looking forward to a promising future under Blaise’s leadership.
The Chamber remains dedicated to driving economic expansion, supporting businesses and enhancing the quality of life in the region. Under its new board leadership, the Chamber is poised to build a brighter future for Bakersfield’s business community.
