Greater Bakersfield Chamber announces the 2025 BYP Council
The Greater Bakersfield Chamber announced the relaunch of Bakersfield Young Professionals (BYP) and invited young professionals across Kern County to join BYP Crews for 2025. These specialized teams focus on service, leadership development, and networking. The program’s relaunch includes a newly appointed council that will lead BYP’s mission to foster growth, collaboration and community impact for Bakersfield’s emerging leaders.
Joel Paramo, Senior Director of Strategic Communications for the Chamber and BYP Chair, leads the charge. Under his leadership, BYP aims to harness its members’ diversity, creativity and drive to push the program to unprecedented heights.
“BYP will lead with service, mentorship, and networking opportunities,” said Paramo. “We’re committed to creating a space where Bakersfield’s young professionals can connect, grow and leave their mark on the city’s future.”
MEET THE 2025 BYP COUNCIL:
- Chair: Joel Paramo, Greater Bakersfield Chamber, Senior Director of Strategic Communications
- Vice Chair: Thomas Shepherd, Kern Community Foundation, Project Specialist
- Treasurer: Kendall Trotter, Valley Stong Credit Union, Cash Management Officer
- Secretary: Kayla Hickey, City of Bakersfield City Manager’s Office, Management Fellow
- Marketing Chair: Jasmin LoBasso, North of the River Recreation & Park District, Director of Community Relations
- Service Chair: Sydney Price, CSF Self-Determination, Caretaker
- Shape Chair: John Frick, Klein DeNatale Goldner, Associate Attorney
- Socialize Chair: Madison Thorp, The Open Door Network, Donor Relations & Development Coordinator
WHO: BYP is open to young professionals aged 21-40 living or working in Kern County. Membership provides opportunities for leadership, mentorship, community service and exclusive networking events.
WHEN: Sign-ups for BYP Crews are now open! Members can join one of three specialized Crews—Service, Shape, or Socialize—each designed to align with their interests and professional goals.
