What is the Purpose of a Ribbon-cutting Ceremony?

Explore the true purpose of a ribbon-cutting ceremony – a focused celebration of your business milestones:

  • Launching a new business
  • Re-opening or renovation
  • A milestone anniversary

What Happens at the Ceremony?

A ribbon-cutting ceremony often includes these key agenda items:

  • Remarks by stakeholders, notable members of the community and business representatives
  • Traditional ribbon cutting photo opportunity:
    • The ceremonial ribbon is stretched across the entrance or designated area, and individuals, often dignitaries, use large scissors to cut the ribbon, symbolizing the opening of the new venture or project.
  • A tour of the facilities or demonstrations
  • A celebration following the conclusion of the ceremony might include:
    • Light food and refreshments to encourage networking
    • Live performances or immersive experiences

Because the ribbon cutting marks a milestone in a business’ history, this is a chance for the business owner or manager to say a few words to those in attendance and publicly thank their financial backers, employees, family and friends, customers and business partners.
