The Greater Bakersfield Chamber’s Campaign Encourages Shopping Local
Bakersfield, Calif. (Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023) – The Greater Bakersfield Chamber’s Shop Local, Shop Now campaign in partnership with the Kern Women’s Business Center, encourages the community to shop local this Valentine’s Day. According to a report from the National Retail Federation (NRF), Americans plan to spend $25.9 billion on Valentine’s Day this year.
“This is an excellent time for the community to purchase from local businesses,” said Chamber President and CEO, Nick Ortiz. “Locally owned and operated businesses re-circulate more money in our community than chain stores and studies show that small businesses create most new jobs.”
He added that “small businesses strengthen our economy, culture and well-being.”
This month the Chamber will highlight some of their members’ businesses ready to make this special day a treat.
“They offer us so much to love,” said Ortiz. “Shopping local for your Valentine’s Day gifts is a great way to support local retailers who invest a lot of time and energy to curate very special products with Bakersfield in mind.”
The Shop Local, Shop Now website includes an interactive map that lists all Chamber members in retail, restaurant and hospitality categories. As an additional perk for all Bakersfield residents – when people tag the chamber on Instagram (@bakochamber) and use the hashtags #ShopLocalShopNow and #BakoChamber – they will also have the opportunity to be featured in the Chamber Instagram feed.
